Visiting the Zoo

Taking the grandchildren to the zoo is always good fun. I love zoos and my first photographic expedition was when I was 8 and we visited Chester zoo. This time I am now grown up and went with my daughter and her family to Twycross Zoo. Even this place has lots of memories as it was a place my parents took me to on a Sunday. I was at boarding school (which sounds very posh) and the weekends were always dull. Mum and Dad took me on days out at the weekend and Twycross was one of the places. Then it was famous for its chimpanzees and their Typhoo Tips tea adverts. Now it is international in its approach and has invested heavily in some spectacular housing pens including the Gibbon and Chimpanzee houses. I always have my camera with me and one of my favourite lenses is the Canon EF70-200mm f/4L IS USM. It gives super images with lovely sharp focus. I decided to do a series of pictures of the animals faces using the lens. The following pictures capture a few personalities at the zoo. I wish to acknowledge Twycross Zoo who look after the animals very well and make visiting a stimulating experience even if it was a very chilly day.
